The earliest rice bran oil was rarely used for food, but was mostly used for manufacturing industrial raw materials such as feed, soap, hardened oil, glycerol, stearic acid, oleic acid, and paint resin.

With the improvement of extraction technology and health concepts, edible rice bran oil has been introduced in many developed countries. China uses modern food processing and precision milling technology to accurately grind and separate the non edible substances (rice husk, pericarp, seed coat, dust, microorganisms, etc.) in rice bran and the beneficial nutrients (outer endosperm such as embryo, aleurone layer, etc.) in clean production workshops, This separation technology can classify rice bran into two parts: feed grade rice bran and food grade rice bran.
